FAQ for AG111.
Yes. AG111 is mixed at a 2:1 ratio. If you plan to use the entire quantity at once, stir Part A, add Part B, and stir the mixture thoroughly. If you do not plan to use it all at once, take out the quantity you need and mix 2:1 in a different container the same way.
The pot life is 6 hours. Do not mix the entire quantity if you do not plan to use it within 6 hours.
MCT101 thinner or medium urethane reducer at 10%.
Yes, you can brush or roll AG111. The gloss AG111 coatings go on nicely with a soft China bristle brush. If AG111 does not flow out well, add a drop or two of MCT101 or medium urethane reducer until it does flow out well.
Both are strong coatings, but AG111 is more durable and chemical resistant for long term service. AG111 is also UV stable while Chassis Black is not and can only be used under the vehicle.
AG111 cures in 48 hours, so it is recommended to wait 48 hours before using the vehicle.
Yes, you can. You should really use Mastercoat Permanent Rust Sealer as a primer, though, to prevent rust from coming through.
Technically, it is not impossible to paint over AG111 because it is already a topcoat, but we do not recommend it. There's no guarantee the paint you put over it will last or how it will end up looking cosmetically. If you want the protection of the AG111 but a different color than what's available, you're better off using your choice of color in another brand of paint as a topcoat, and then going over that with AG111 clear. We do advise doing a small spot test to make sure your paint and AG111 clear are compatible, however.
The shelf life of AG111 is about two years unopened. These are approximate and usually last longer but are best used within this time. If they’re still liquid they should still be good. Once you mix the parts together it should be used within 6 hours. Do not store once mixed.
Yes, it's the same as the rust sealer by itself--once you have at least two coats of rust sealer on the surface, apply the AG111 within 48 hours.
DO NOT put these coatings on a shaker to mix them. Due to the material type, they could build up gases and become a hazard when you try to open them. The lid may blow off.
No, there is no difference in performance or strength.
Generally yes, but only if your engine doesn’t run very hot. The permanent rust sealers and AG111 are rated to stand up to 350 degrees continuous heat exposure. The rust sealer creates an air tight seal, so if your engine runs overly hot, it can cause it to overheat.
Like the rust sealers, 350 degrees continuous. It is not recommended to use AG111 on exhaust manifolds or anywhere it gets hotter than that.
