Get Many Years of Auto Preservation With Mastercoat As A Primer

When I started working on old cars, the object of the idea was to restore them to new condition. Nothing stays new forever. So here at Mastercoat, we searched for the most powerful primers in the world. Many years ago, when we brought in an old car to the shop to restore the floors, the trunk, and the usual rust areas, they had great primers on them. If I got caught grinding it off I would get yelled at. My mentor, a very wise and knowledgeable man named Frank Kennedy, would say, "You will never get another primer as good as that."  It was then he commenced to call me a jerk.

This is why I cant understand why you would use a primer that is not as good as the original, when the original primer has failed. Well after some research, I discovered the Mastercoat Permanent Rust Sealer moisture cured primer that went down before the epoxy primer lasted for decades outside. That's why every car I've painted is primed with two coats of the Mastercoat Permanent Rust Sealer, then either urethane or epoxy surfacing primer, and then the color. Many of us restorers are getting up in years and we don't know where our pride and joy will wind up. 30 years from now it could be in somebody's barn or somewhere with a tree growing through it. The bottom line is that if preservation is your goal, go industrial. Production paint jobs can have a very short life expectancy depending on who preps and what they prep the vehicle with. For instance, "treat the metal with metal prep, then rinse it with water. If it flash rusts, just  paint right over it with epoxy primer." That seems like a good way to create rust. Of course, every painter has their own opinion of what is the best product and I can respect that. A  production paint job will will will run 500 to 1000 hours in salt spray. Two/three coats of Mastercoat Permanent Rust Sealer will run 5000 to 8000 hours salt spray testing. Vintage Cars Inc. in  Fort Mill South Carolina has been priming their projects for 20 years with our Mastercoat Permanent Rust Sealer with great results, and we are proud to have them on our team. They are great people who do great work.
