Mastercoat: Some of the toughest paints on earth!
WHY IS MASTERCOAT PERMANENT RUST SEALER SILVER AND NOT BLACK?
FACT: There is no such thing as a black rust sealer. Mastercoat Permanent Rust Sealer is SILVER and not black because the aluminum pigment blocks the oxygen and the resin blocks the moisture. Together, this creates an AIR TIGHT SEAL, which encapsulates and prevents rust from coming back or coming through the paint. Black "rust sealers" only have the resin to block the moisture, so because it is not air tight, the rust will come through the paint job sooner than later.
FACT: No paint in existence will stop or prevent rust permanently in one coat. This system requires two coats of rust sealer and one coat of a top coat to create a rust proof barrier. If a paint is claiming to stop or prevent rust in one coat, it's just not possible and you'll be repainting again in no time because rust will come through the paint job.
Which Mastercoat Permanent Rust Sealer should I choose?
If you are BRUSHING it on, choose Mastercoat Permanent Rust Sealer ORIGINAL.
If you are spraying it through a gun or coating the inside of a gas tank, choose Mastercoat Permanent Rust Sealer SLIM.
All varieties of Mastercoat Permanent Rust Sealer achieve the same long lasting results! The type you choose only depends on how you want to apply it.
PRO TIP: Purchased one type or the other and then changed your mind about how you want to apply it? No problem! Mastercoat Permanent Rust Sealer Original can be sprayed with 10% reduction with MCT101 Thinner or urethane reducer, and Mastercoat Permanent Rust Sealer Sprayable Slim can be brushed but goes on even better with a 4 inch foam roller.
Mastercoat Permanent Rust Sealer is not only for the chassis, but for the whole body.
The entire vehicle are completely primed inside and out, top and bottom with the Mastercoat Permanent Rust Sealer. In most cases, an epoxy primer would go over it for blocking purposes, then followed by a topcoat for paint jobs that will go 20+ years.
Special note: two coats of Mastercoat Permanent Rust Sealer, one coat of epoxy primer, and a color coat will last outdoors for 20 years. This system is top of the line for prolonged outdoor exposure.
This has been demonstrated numerous times in the industrial environments, such as the Pittsburgh Homestead High Level Bridge, which had less than 5% corrosion after 14 years. This rust sealer is optimal for conveyor belts for coal generating plants and stands up to coal dust corrosion.
Mastercoat Permanent Rust Sealer is also ideal for roof applications, commercial and non-commercial.
A lot of companies use the term "rust preventive paint" very loosely. A rust preventive paint can be any kind of paint. Any type of paint will prevent rust, but for how long? There are many types of rust preventive paints, but Mastercoat rust preventive paint systems are the industrial coatings standard for long-term rust prevention.
Instructions
Easy to use! Sandblasting the surface is always optimal, but if sandblasting is not practical, remove loose scale with a stiff wire brush, wire wheel, or grinder. For previously coated surfaces, remove any loose, cracked, or peeling paint with a wire brush and scuff with 220 grit sandpaper. Stir thoroughly before use and wear protective gloves. Coating may be applied by brush, roller, or spray. For spraying, reduce 10% with our MCT101 or urethane reducer. For use as a primer, apply TWO regular coats minimum and then apply Mastercoat Chassis Black or Mastercoat AG111 as a topcoat or any topcoat of your choosing. Coating must be completely dry to touch before recoating. Recoat time: within 48 hours. If you cannot apply the next coat within 48 hours, scuff surface with 220 grit sandpaper. Beyond 7 days after last coat: scuff with 220 sandpaper and wipe surface with MCT101 thinner. For pitted surfaces, additional coats may be applied until pits are filled in. Apply three coats for use as a finish coat. This coating is best used in 50% relative humidity. Do not apply while it is raining or during other types of precipitation. Do not apply if ambient temperature and/or surface temperature is under 35 degrees fahrenheit. Remove scale and coat entire panel, front and back with a minimum of two coats, three if not topcoating.
Testimonials
The three coat polyurethane system in action! This bridge was marginally prepared using wire wheels and grinders. Due to a lead paint hazard, it was overcoated with two coats of permanent rust sealer and one coat of 111 topcoat. An inspection 14 years later revealed less than 5% corrosion. The bridge is located in Pittsburgh, PA. Bridges done with this three coat system have generally a 25 year service life before repainting.
FABRIC SHIELD, INC.
"After application of your MasterSeries finish, we were astounded by the results! At the end of 9 months of exposure to our chemicals, your product showed no signs of breakdown. At this point in time, we are usually descaling and sanding our equipment and repainting with our previous epoxy anti-corrosive paints. As you know, our flame-proofing chemicals being composed of salts, borates, and halogenated compounds and ammonia have destroyed our steel components every 30 months. Our projected savings and downtime and replacement costs are really beyond our expectations!"
